Since its inception, AAMP’s mission has been constant. AAMP's primary purpose is to promote the common interests of its members, to provide information and education while promoting multi-family living to the public. AAMP has been a positive influence in advocating pro-housing initiatives while promoting public policy actions that would enhance investment, sustainability and growth of the multi-family housing industry.
History
For over 50 years, the Apartment Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh (AAMP) has been a leading advocate for the multi-family housing sector in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
As many builders from the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh (BAMP) became increasingly involved in the development, ownership, and management of multi-family properties, it was a natural step to form a dedicated association to represent the interests of apartment owners and investors. This collaboration was driven by concerns over potential changes to Pennsylvania's Landlord Tenant Act and fears of government-imposed rent controls. In response, AAMP was established in 1974 as a sister organization to BAMP.
After nearly five decades as a sister organization, in 2023 AAMP became an independent non-profit. Today, AAMP has over 150 member companies, including apartment builders, developers, owners, managers, investors, financial institutions, suppliers, subcontractors, and utilities, all focused on the multi-family housing industry.
